Week 12

Social Newworking: As a client in the library, people already have access to social networking, many use facebook and Myspace, this is an area that is targeted mostly by the younger generation as a means to communicate with their friends both locally and worldwide. However many of older generation have started to become very involved with this new way of communication!.

Social networking is an online community of people that share the same interests or activities. Myspace and facebook are two social networks. You only need to see how popular they are. This can be a great way for people to keep in contact with many people at the same time. We can all spend lots of time and have fun participatinf in these social networks- Chris

Week 11

OnLine applications and tools:

Lorraine, Chris and Ruth created the online document and forwarded it on to the state library and others.

We found this to be rather easy, we hope that we have done this right. Having completed this weeks task we can see ourselves using this technology within our work flows, for many purposes eg updating new book lists and keeping other teams up to date with our progress!.

With web 2.0 it has been a good adventure for me, it has opened up many different areas that I was was not familiar with, this week was no exception. I especially liked google doc, this is something that can have so many uses within the working environment. Chris

Week Ten

Mashups: Another challenging week, this was a week that we were looking fordward to. Even though we did not know much about mashing, we found it wery interesting. We now know the types of things you can do with a picture in creating calendars, jigsaw puzzels and there is so many other areas that you can adventure into.

Mashups was something completly different but once I tried, with a bit help I think it is such a great thing to able to do. There is so much that can be achieved it is just having the time to really create more.- Chris

Week 9

Podcasts and Audio, Well here we go. Went to the library of congress site and listened to some podcasts by Brad Melzer and R.L. Stine, this was very interesting to hear the authors talk about books they have written.
This is technology that you would not normally have access to. The connection came quite easily between the Author and books they spoke about.
It made us feel as though we were part of the audience at the time. Very interresting to see that you are able to download University modules via i-tunes as a podcasting.

Enjoyed this module podcasts are everywhere now, if you miss the local news you can go to the web site and catch up. I am starting to use podcast as it has given me a chance to catch up on things that I have missed. I am finding that I really enjoy open new horizons.- Chris

Week 8

We are now adventuring into the world of answer boards and social searching. During the process of working through the 2.0 activities, the more we get into the searches we find that we are opening up a new world of information technology. The problems when you get into various areas we are getting side tracked and venturing into unexplained territory. That being said we are having a great time doing this, and it is making us think a lot more of the many different things we are now getting access to. The main problem is finding the time to go and have a play time with our new learnings of 2.0.

This week was one that was a bit of a supprise, I thought this was something that I would never use however this has open up a new area for me. I can see the potential and have started to use these searches, loved the receipes and answers boards. I have even had a bit more of a play. Chris

Week 7

Tagging, delicious folksomomies, well we have had a great time in the particular area
we side tracked a fair amount but had a great time in these new areas. It took us some time to find our way back. The Delicious section of this week really won us over. We really took our time and gained a greater insight into blogging and
Web 2.0 learning. At long last we agree that we three are finally getting it together and understanding blogging at long last. Thank God, Really the time factor is what gets in our way. But we still are enjoying the venture.

This I found to be a fun area once I found the tagging and the delicious aspect I really started to appreciate what blogging can do. I did get a little lost because I ventured around a bit, but I had a great time. This was a challenge, but one that I had a great time in and look fordward to keep going with blogging. Chris

Week 6

Youtube! wow we can't believe the amount of clips that are posted. However we feel that many of the clips are distructive. You tube can be used for good info, however there is a dark side to it. We personally felt that Youtube can be very damaging especially for the younger generation. Seeing how they can use Youtube for whatever.
As far as we have noticed, there appears to be negative aspects to Youtube (People posting pornography, fighting and inappropriate photo's and video's. We have also discovered there is a positive side the Youtube example A band posting their music video and now have a recording contract.

This is one particular area that I did not really get into, a lot of the sites that I did view I felt were a bit on the negative side. I know that this is a popular way of being noticed and putting your information out there, but sometime this information can have a negative impact on a person/persons. On a positive note a lot of people do get noticed through youtube. Then it could be age thing, the young people of this world can't have enough positive things to say about youtube. Chris

Week 5

We enjoyed the videoclip, and can see how easy it is to contribute and be a part of the wild, wild world of wiki's. It could quiet easily be utilised within a regional library benefiting the rural sector with updated library information from all branches. Examples, childrens activities, author talks, book reviews, book groups, New library stock. Wikis could be useful especially with the sharing of information on Local Studies. This I could see becoming popular with our library.

This particular week I feel that I am starting to get the feel of blogging. I did enjoy author talks and felt that I could have been sitting in the audience with them, this has tweaked my curiosity and I have started to listen to more poscasts and surf the www more, Chris

Week 4

RSS feeds : We found this week to be enjoyable and satisfying. We were amazed at the amount of interresting RSS feeds. This was an area that we detoured quite abit but found fascinating. It is incredible to see the amount of Feeds and know that you can follow them daily. We cannot believe the amount of information that has been updated on our daily feeds. It's amazing. This week blew our minds, we went Crazy, Chris and Ruth are still crazy really. We can see ourselves actually using this service, not that we need to but if we do eventually have some spare time, we would love to play with this one lots more.

This was a week that I really loved, who knew how much information was really out there!. Once hooked up to a RSS feed, I keep getting more and more information, found a great cooking site that keep getting updated and by the end of a few days it is hard to keep up to the amount of RSS feeds that you can have in a blog.-Chris

Week 3

We had a bit of a derailment this week however it was an adventure, we did learn a few things on the way and Ruth Chris and Lorraine are slowly finding our way back. We went into flikr photographed a picture of Damaged Arnold and uploaded the picture into our blog

This week was certinally a challenge, I had to join up to flikr and learn how to upload a picture, this was a challenge in its self. However once the photo was completed I felt a sense of achievement to see what can be done. In the future when I have more time I would like to play some more with flikr.-Chris

Week 2

Creating our own blog has been a challenge but enjoyable. We have discovered the many ways to use our blog. Looking forward to the many challenges we know we are facing in the future of blogging.

Week 1

Ruth, Chris and Lorraine have discovered blogging is an opening to a new world of technology and communication. Having the opportunity to explore is an adventure in itself.

This is an area that I was not familiar with at all, so it is a complete learning curve for me. I would like to complete Web 2.0 and utalise my new skills. - Chris
